Icare Show : a festival of aerial demonstrations


It all begins at dawn, in Lumbin, with balloons...

This year, they will be about thirty balloons, alongside shaped balloons, dynabulles and other dirigibles,  from all over Europe will congregate for this most convivial and inspiring happening.

You might have a chance to watch them once again near sunset...

Friday from 7:00am to 9:00am and from 6:00pm to 8:00pm (training flights)
Saturday from 7:00am to 9:00am and from 6:00pm to 8:00pm - Sunday from 7:00am to 9:00am

The mini hot air balloons also fly, day and night, alongside their big sisters in Lumbin, as well as St Hilaire, on the South launch, Saturday and Sunday from  9:00am and 11:00am

A simple wind gust and the sky comes goes wild… More disciplines await and take the attention over in Lumbin…

Ground exhibition of club banners, all types of kites (depending on weather forecast) and Chinese and Indonesian banners.
Flights and demos: individual 4 line and 2 line flights, 2-line aerobatic team flight, single themed-flight: Indonesian, Chinese, contemporary and historical.
Indonesian and Chinese dragons exhibition (flights depending on weather forecast)
Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 to 16:00.

Aircraft model
Aircraft model presentation in Category A, radio control helicopter Category B and captive radio control hot air balloons…
Saturday September 23rd and Sunday September 24th: 9am to 4pm

The ULM runway
- reserved for test flights and presentations by pilots and manufacturers – is open Saturday and Sunday (9am to 4pm and 6:30 pm to 7pm - No flights outside those timeframes)

Icarobatix :
A daring, full throttle, skim- the-ground race-chase around inflatable pylons with 20 of the world’s top pilots in contest.
Task 1 – Saturday from 10:00am – 11:00am Lumbin
Task 2  Saturday from 6:00pm – 7:00pm St Hilaire
Finale: Sunday  10:00am – 11:00am Lumbin

Suddenly, paragliders and hangliders take off in St Hilaire…

Delta wings revisited and Swift :
Next to Grenoble Chartreuse Vol Libre, revisit the history of hang gliding  from the Atlas wings of the 70s to the Swift not forgetting the Moyes, Atos and other remarkable aircraft!. Inscription on line

Paragliding aerobatics:

Flight 1807 :
Between the valley and the summit of the Dent de Crolles, there is a 1807meter altitude difference. A great ascension by foot finishes with a magnificent flight, under the guidance of the CHVD. Pre-registration on line

Group flight:  
A flock of 40 or so pilots take off almost simultaneously… Nothing is easier for the Parateam! Inscription on line

Manufacturer Demos:
This is the chance for paraglider manufacturers to show off their latest models (EN norm).Inscription on line

After Icarnaval, the show continues in the realm of Icare…

- Aerobatics glider :  elegance and power in perfect harmony (4:15pm)
- Presentation of Collection planes: Boeing Stearman PT18 (4:25pm) and a Pilatus P2 (5:25pm)
- Parachuting and wingsuit: they are masters of the sky with tremendous dexterity that makes everything they do look easy. (5:15pm)
- Air Force aerobatic team: They are great, truly great! With the Extra 330, they play in the sky with amazing prowess and impertinence! (5:40pm)
- ULM démonstrations (4:55pm)
- The flight of the three Jetman : Yves Rossy, Vincent Reffet and Fred Fugen  flies by the launches of St Hilaire. He’s fast, very fast… Don’t wink! (4:40pm)

Glide ratio contest :
A good pretext to have fun with your paraglider. Rendez-vous with the Paratea on the flight school slope next to Icare Expo.
Glide ratio: Friday and Sunday from 5:00pm to 6:30pm

Boomerang :
On the launch “carpet”; they brilliantly animate the lull between demonstrations.
Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

Initiation flights
For those who want to taste the joy of flying….
Helicopter initiation: Saturday and Sunday from 9:00am to 16:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm
ULM Baptism : from 9:00am to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 7:00pm
